Castrol V8 Supercar sponsorship
The following is a statement by Castrol Australia regarding its V8 Supercar sponsorship arrangements for 2006 and beyond. After a detailed review of Castrol’s overall sponsorship program, it has been decided that a more varied Motorsport portfolio is necessary for ongoing business success.

As a consequence, the first step of this strategy is that Castrol will no longer be primary sponsor of Team Perkins Racing. Team owner Larry Perkins will however remain one of Castrol’s key brand ambassadors, while the company will continue its long relationship with the team by providing lubricants and technical support.

“Castrol Australia has partnered Larry Perkins and Team Perkins Racing for 13 years as primary sponsor and during that time we have experienced great success together, including three Bathurst wins (1993, ’95, ’97),” Castrol Marketing Director Andrew Johnson said.

“We have benefited greatly from the passion and performance displayed by Larry and his team during our association and we thank them greatly for all their efforts.

“However, as every business does from time to time, we have reviewed our position and have concluded that it is vital for the continued profitable growth of our business that we make strategic changes.

“Motor racing is one of the cornerstones of the Castrol brand and we will continue to be a leading sponsor in V8 Supercars,” Johnson said.
